Newcomers Club Hosts Craft Table at Wheaton Halloween Event

Beautiful weather brought over 100 families to the Downtown Wheaton Association Trick or Treating event on Saturday, October 26, where the Newcomers Club of Wheaton, Winfield and Warrenville volunteered to provide and facilitate crafts in Martin Plaza. Children could choose to color a pre-folded origami bat, a variety of masks, and/or Halloween themed coloring sheets and were given a box of crayons to take home in their treat bags.

The craft area was a new addition this year along with a costume contest for kids and pets, face painter, friendly fortune teller, photo area opportunities, balloon artist and Costco healthy treat station.

Newcomers Club Ways and Means Vice President Kathleen Chex said, “My husband Mike and I enjoyed lunch with our daughter at Genghis Grill, which gave out ‘buy an adult bowl and get a kids' bowl free' coupon during Trick or Treating! It was our first experience at the restaurant and we plan to return!”

Club President Tammy Croll recalled shopping with her daughter after the event and finding bargain snow boots at Wear & Share on Hale Street.
