Local Soroptimist Club seeks applicants for Wagner Educational Grant

Recipient to receive cash award for educational expenses

Women who currently attend local colleges and universities and who are seeking financial assistance to continue their education can now obtain applications for the Virginia M. Wagner award.

The Virginia Wagner award is Soroptimist International Midwestern Region's grant that honors the effort and scholarship of women attending a college or university to earn a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree.

Applications are available by contacting Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago at siofsuburban.chicago@soroptimist.net . Completed applications must be returned to the local Soroptimist Club by January 15, 2014.

Soroptimist International is a volunteer organization for business and professional women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls, both locally and globally, through programs that result in social and economic improvement.

Founded in 1989, the Suburban Chicago Club is part of Soroptimist International which includes nearly 95,000 Soroptimists in more than 120 countries and territories who contribute time and financial support to community-based projects that benefit women. In addition to participating in the Virginia M. Wagner award program, Soroptimist International of Suburban Chicago helps women by participating in the Women's Opportunity Award and the GED Grant.
