CLC offers classes to help you get ready for the holidays

The holidays are coming! Be ready for your gifts, guests and gatherings by enrolling in a class from the College of Lake County's Center for Personal Enrichment. Classes cover topics that can assist in gift giving (getting a dog or cat), making gifts (wire jewelry and wreath making) and prepping for your gatherings (photography and Chinese cooking for the holidays). Course fees range from $39 to $99. The following classes will be offered:

Adopting a Dog on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The right kind of dog can bring years of joy to you and your family, so be sure you are getting the best one for your lifestyle. Students in grades 6-12 can register for CEXP 30-001 with a parent or authorized adult who is registered for CPET 7-001.

Adopting a Cat on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Learn what to expect from a new cat or kitten to help pick the right pet for you and your family. Students in grades 6-12 can register for CEXP 32-001 with a parent or authorized adult who is registered for CPET 8-001.

Wire Jewelry II on Tuesdays, Nov. 12 to Dec. 3 from 6:30-9 p.m. Bring your tools from Wire Jewelry I and make more beautiful pieces, working mainly with sterling silver and beautiful color-coated

Organizing Photos in Adobe Lightroom on Fridays, Dec. 6-20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Learn to import and organize your photographs in Adobe Lightroom. Bring your photos onto your computer quickly and easily, then catalog images using keyword tags and collections.

Holiday Wreath Making on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. or Wednesday, Dec.4 from 7-9 p.m. Bring your family and join others in a festive atmosphere of holiday music, cookies and hot chocolate while creating a beautiful wreath and swag. You'll learn how to wire the wreaths that can be used to decorate your home or make great gifts for the holidays. All kids must attend with an adult and register separately; call (847) 543-2022 for youth information.

Chinese Holiday Dishes on Friday, Dec. 13 from 7-9 p.m. Chef Ying Stoller will demonstrate how to prepare these popular Chinese holiday dishes: General Tso's Chicken, potstickers and egg drop soup.
