Prescription drug disposal

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration National Prescription Drug Take Back event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be the second national event this year. In April, Lake County collected approximately 8,000 pounds of prescription drugs of the approximate 23,000 pounds collected in the state. Ridding medicine cabinets of these prescription drugs prevents children from accidentally consuming them and unauthorized users from obtaining them. Anyone having unwanted or unused prescription drugs can drop them off at one of the following locations for proper disposal: Beach Park Village Hall, 11270 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park; and Volo Village Hall, 500 S. Fish Lake Road, Volo.
