Warren hangs on against Vernon Hills

Allyson Mitchell slammed 10 kills and served 3 aces, and Jenna Walczak added 8 kills, as Warren’s girls volleyball team outlasted visiting Vernon Hills 25-18, 15-25, 25-19 in a North Suburban Conference crossover Tuesday night.

Lauren Frericks had 3 aces and 9 assists for the Blue Devils, Heidi Doden contributed 5 kills, and Rachel Ziegler chipped in 3 kills and 14 assists.

Vernon Hills (6-24) was led by Kasey Firnbach’s 8 kills and 3 aces and Val Barybina’s 5 kills and 4 blocks. Mia Polisky had 4 kills, and Jade Goldufsky also served 3 aces.

Grayslake Central d. Woodstock: Gabi Casper and Alex Dahlstrom had 8 kills apiece, and the Rams won their Fox Valley Fox Division finale 25-9, 25-21.

Casper and Teresa Curtis led the way defensively with 15 and 14 digs, respectively. Hayley Peterson set 64 of 65 with 25 assists. Peterson, Hannah Thomas and Dahlstrom each had 2 aces.

Grayslake Central (21-8, 8-4) finished third in the FVC Fox.

Johnsburg d. Grayslake North: The Skyhawks outlasted the Knights 22-25, 25-17, 25-23 in the teams’ Fox Valley Fox finale.

Alaina Geissberger had 7 kills and 4 blocks for Grayslake North (13-21, 5-7), while Bailee Hardy added 6 kills. The Knights also received 4 kills from Summer Camper, 4 aces from Nicole LeBaron, 4 blocks from Maggie Fish, 27 digs from Cassie Reimbold and 14 assists and 4 aces from Kendall Buchman.

Stevenson d. Wauconda: Nikki Zarytsky delivered 5 aces, and Jen Kapov and Khaila Donaldson pounded 6 and 5 kills, respectively, for the Patriots in their 25-12, 25-10 NSC crossover win.

Stevenson (24-6) also received 9 digs and 2 aces apiece from Donaldson and Peyton Bykowski. Corissa Kurth dished out 17 assists, while Kara Maleski contributed 3 kills and 2 solo blocks.

Mundelein d. North Chicago: Cindy Kokoszka delivered 7 aces, Carly Johnson served 4 aces and dished out 3 assists, and the Mustangs won the NSC crossover 25-5, 25-8.

Yasmeen Johnson had 3 aces for Mundelein (13-17), while Laura Nicolesaeu and Sarah Bregenzer added 2 kills apiece.

Zion-Benton d. Grant: The visiting Zee-Bees captured the NSC crossover 15-25, 25-18, 25-14, despite Beka Couch’s 6 kills and 2 solo blocks.

Grant’s Deanna Rodriguez served 13 of 13 with 2 aces and also had 7 digs.
