Schaumburg police seek armed robber

Schaumburg police are requesting the public’s help in identifying a man who stole an iPhone at gunpoint Saturday night.

According to police, a 16-year-old Schaumburg boy was approached from behind about 10:15 p.m. on the 600 block of North Knollwood Drive. The thief displayed a small black semiautomatic handgun and demanded the victim’s iPhone.

The robber then ran from the scene, leaving the victim unhurt, police said.

The robber was described as a black man, 18 to 22 years old, about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, with a dark complexion, brown eyes and a slender build. He was wearing a red and yellow baseball cap, red hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

Anyone who may recognize the thief from his computer-generated likeness or who has additional information about this crime is asked to call the Schaumburg Police Department’s Investigations Division at (847) 882-3534.
