Rolling Meadows nets win No. 20

The Rolling Meadows girls volleyball team earned its 20th win of the season on Saturday when it went 3-2 and took third place honors at the Elgin tournament.

Lauren Sokolowski (23 kills, 35 digs, 8 aces), Jenny Vliet (31 kills, 44 assists), Ashley Montanez (28 kills, 6 blocks), Grace Skorin (48 digs) and Sami Kay (16 digs) were among the statistical leaders for Meadows (20-14).

Maine West Pumpkin: Hersey (18-11) went 3-2 and placed 10th as sophomore Liz Fuerst (47 kills), Gabri Olhava (23 kills) and Megan Solans (20) led the attack set by Courtney Stedman (63 assists), Carly Pisano (43) and Caity Strozewski (5).

“Liz Fuerst had a huge tournament,” said Hersey coach Nancy Lill, whose Huskies (18-11) will visit Barrington on Thursday for the Mid-Suburban League championship.”

Jola Ignaciuk had 17 blocks and Katie Krebs 85 digs for the MSL East champs.

“Other than our opening match loss to Maine South, it was a solid weekend for us,” said Hersey coach Nancy Lill. “We played against some very good teams and for the most part played some excellent volleyball. “We definitely improved as a team as we prepare for the conference championship and a postseason run.”

Palatine went 2-3 in the tourney.

Meg Angelaccio (24 kills), Claire Chaplinsky (22), Kim Butler (18), Hannah Bridier (11) and Heather Holz (11) led the Palatine attack. Liz Keelty and Jessica Lundell each served 6 aces.

JennDonnell (32 kills), Sarah Manczko (14) and DeeDee Durr (11) led Conant (2-3 in the tourney) on attack.

Hoffman was paced by Clare Shaffer (28 kills) and Sarah Wille (18).

Top attackers for Wheeling were Timber Terrell (16 kills), Deanna Kuzmanic (13) and Elizabeth Smith (12 kills)

Glenbard East tourney: MSL West champion Barrington went 3-2 and improved to 18-16 overall.

Christy Roney (37 kills), Megan Talbot (23), Jess Terrill (11) and

Katie Clement (11) were top attackers for Barrington.

Emma French and Claire Waliczek (81 assists) each served 7 aces while Clement had 5 along with 6 blocks.

Emily Casaletto collected 66 digs and Megan Talbot recorded 5 blocks.
