Aurora U. grad named state's Teacher of the Year

Aurora University graduate Pam Reilly on Saturday was named Illinois Teacher of the Year.

Reilly, a second-grade teacher at Woodbury Elementary School in Sandwich, was selected from 11 finalists recognized at the Illinois State Board of Education's 39th Annual Those Who Excel banquet in downstate Normal.

"Pam's passion for teaching and her enthusiasm for helping her students succeed is so genuine and sincere that students are immediately drawn to her," State Superintendent Christopher Koch said in a news release.

Now in her 12th year of teaching, Reilly is a graduate of Aurora University in Aurora and National-Louis University in Chicago. ISBE officials described her as "a collaborator and leader" in School District 430, which is home to six schools serving more than 2,300 students.
