Deputies evict Schaumburg man, find 38 firearms

By Jake Griffin

A 59-year-old Schaumburg man whose firearm owners identification card had been revoked is facing felony weapons possession charges after Cook County sheriff's deputies discovered 38 firearms in a house from which he was being evicted Thursday.

Authorities said Wallace Sollo was storing seven shotguns, nine rifles, 22 handguns and several rounds of ammunition inside two bedrooms of the house on the 0-100 block of Whitman Drive.

Sollo's bond was set at $20,000 during a hearing Friday in Rolling Meadows. Authorities said if Sollo is released on bond he will be placed on electronic monitoring as a condition of his release.

Authorities did not say why Sollo's FOID card had been revoked. They did say Sollo notified officers of the weapons when asked about them during routine questioning as part of the eviction process.

Sollo's next court date is scheduled for Nov. 15.
