Math, reading readiness classes offered in Palatine

Palatine Park District offers two educational enrichment programs on Thursday mornings for children ages 4 to 6.

From 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., The Reading Center Inc. offers a class presented by certified reading specialists that is geared toward the emerging language learner. This class will focus on early principles of alphabet sequence and letter recognition. Students will participate in a variety of pre-reading lessons designed to motivate and encourage the blossoming reader.

From 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., a certified teacher with over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience will make learning numbers and understanding math concepts fun in Math Readiness class. Children will explore hands-on math while engaging in games and activities. They will work in group and individual settings in this program.

Classes are held on Thursday mornings from Oct. 31 to Dec. 12; class will not meet on Nov. 28.

The fee for each program is $64 for residents and $80 for nonresidents. Registration can be complete online, by mail, by fax, or in person at Community Center, Birchwood, or Falcon Park.
