Schaumburg Park District wins arts award

The Illinois Association of Park Districts recently gave the Schaumburg Park District with the Helen Doria Arts in the Park Award, which recognizes park districts and other agencies that support the arts and partner with artists and arts organizations to enhance their community’s quality of life.

Also honored at the event with years-of-service recognitions were park district commissioners Dave Johnson (40 years), and Bob Schmidt (10 years). Overall district was honored for 50 years serving its residents.

“The District is honored to receive this distinguished award,” Executive Director Tony LaFrenere said of the Doria award. “Our cultural arts programs are successful because of the dedicated and innovative staff, and enthusiastic support from the community.”
