Prospect High Marching Knights continue winning streak

For the third consecutive year, the Prospect Marching Knights were awarded first place in Class 5A at the state of Illinois Invitational Marching Band Championship. The band also received awards for Outstanding Music performance, Visual performance, and General Effect.

Thirty-six bands participated in six classes during preliminaries, with the top 14 competing in finals. The Marching Knights placed second overall in finals behind Marian Catholic High School. The Marching Knights previously captured first place at both the Lake Park Lancer Joust and at the Red & Black Fall Classic at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The Knights will next compete at the Bands Of America Super Regional in St. Louis the weekend of Oct. 18-20.

Their 2013 show is entitled “The Hero Within,” featuring the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven with selections from his Fifth, Seventh and Ninth Symphonies.
