Libertyville maintains momentum

Fresh off its runner-up finish in the Glenbrook North/New Trier tournament last weekend, Libertyville’s girls volleyball team stayed hot with a 25-15, 27-25 win over Warren in North Suburban Lake Division play Wednesday night.

Kate Jarecki pounded 9 kills for Libertyville (15-9). Vicky Liu added 5 kills and 10 digs, while Rhiannon Prentiss had 12 digs. Alex Basler contributed 4 kills, and Cassie Ostmeyer totaled 3 aces and 9 assists. Lizzie Apgar also lofted 9 assists for the Wildcats. Lauryn Such served 2 aces.

Warren (16-10) received 5 kills apiece from Jenna Walczak and Allyson Mitchell. Rachel Ziegler dished out 11 assists for the Blue Devils. Lindsey Biedron and Kim Hengesh had 10 and 9 digs, respectively.

Antioch d. Grant: The Sequoits won 25-15, 25-23 to improve to 5-0 in the North Suburban Prairie and keep pace with Lakes.

Antioch visits Lakes on Friday night for the NSC Prairie championship.

Madeline Johnson had 7 kills for Antioch. Amanda Spera totaled 6 kills and 2 blocks, while serving for 9 points. Sequoits setter Marissa Grant lofted 25 assists and also totaled 7 digs.

Stevenson d. Mundelein: Khaila Donaldson’s 8 kills and Jen Kapov’s 7 helped the Patriots capture a 26-24, 25-18 win in the North Suburban Lake finale.

Stevenson (22-6, 4-2) also received 4 kills from Kara Maleski, 3 from Julia Osmond and 2 solo blocks apiece from Grace Duffy and Kapov. Alex Bykowski was 49-of-50 setting with 16 assists. Peyton Bykowski racked up 13 digs.

Mundelein (12-16, 2-4) was led by Yasmeen Johnson’s 8 kills and 3 blocks. Madi Wilcox set 55 of 56 with 15 assists, and Sarah Bregenzer put down 3 kills for the Mustangs.

Vernon Hills d. Round Lake: Val Barybina buried 11 kills and posted 2 blocks, as the Cougars won 25-14, 22-25, 25-18 in North Suburban Prairie play.

Katie Brettman and Kasey Firnbach had 5 and 4 kills, respectively, for Vernon Hills (6-22, 3-2). Firnbach and Dana Meline each delivered 2 aces, and Tori Smith lofted 20 assists
