Hoffman Jaycees collecting food

As part of the nationally recognized Make a Difference Day, the Hoffman Estates Jaycees will be collecting canned and nonperishable goods for the 11th year in a row. The food and other items collected will benefit the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.

The Jaycees will be at Valli Produce, 805 N. Roselle Road, Hoffman Estates, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Please stop by and support their efforts with a donation or volunteer to Make a Difference.

Residents have historically been very generous and the food pantry is very appreciative of the donation as pantry levels do get low.

Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others — a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate. Created by USA Weekend Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. Millions have participated.

The Hoffman Estates Chapter of the Jaycees is one of the 1,000 local chapters in the United States. The Jaycees is an international organization with over 200,000 members in more than 100 countries around the world. Jaycees provide individuals between the ages of 21 and 40 the opportunity to network and develop personal and leadership skills while serving their local community.
