Dale wins, Conant second at Sterling

Zach Dale didn’t fail.

The Conant junior added another invitational victory to his impressive season, taking top honors on the in the Sterling Invitational on Saturday.

Dale finished in 14:50, nine seconds ahead of Rock Island Alleman’s Zach Hird.

The effort by Dale, who two weekends ago set a record in Bartlett’s invitational, helped Conant to second place in the team race.

Pleasant View took top team honors with 58, and Conant had 101 to top Sterling (153), Alleman (157) and Oswego (186).

Contributing to the Cougars’ score was a nice pack of junior Shujaat Sultan (23rd, 16:10), senior James Pesce (24th, 16:11), junior James Janczy (25th, 16:15) and junior Joel Almodovar (28th, 16:21).
