Prosecutors also agreed to drop a class X felony sex charge carrying a prison sentence of six to 30 years, records show. McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather accepted the plea deal.

Hoerauf was taken into custody in January after police heard from two relatives accusing him of sexual assault more than six years ago in Wonder Lake, according to a news release at the time from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

A 14-year-old boy said he was sexually assaulted by Hoerauf, formerly of Wonder Lake, when he was around 6 or 7 years old.

During the investigation, which began in September 2012, investigators heard from a second victim who said he was sexually assaulted by Hoerauf at age 6. The assaults occurred over a two-year period, police said.

Hoerauf admitted to assaulting both victims during interviews with members of the sheriff's office, police said.

A judge ordered Hoerauf held on $100,000 bail.
