Bensenville celebrates its history

Visitors to Bensenville Park District’s Heritage Day celebration Saturday participated in a variety of fall-themed events at Fischer Farm and Churchville School, many of which took them back to far earlier times.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to tour the one-room schoolhouse, which is typically for schoolchildren,” historical society member Christena Gunther said.

Kids at the festival mingled with members of the Fort Dearborn Militia, rode ponies, painted pumpkins or learned to make candles. For adults, there were plenty of local craft artists displaying their wares and a performance by the White Saddle Band.

“This is a great event for family and friends to enjoy the community.” Jacquelyn Mroszczak of Bensenville said.
