Former Elk Grove priest dies

The Rev. Bernard C. White, 87, the associate pastor at Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church in Elk Grove Village for three years in the 1980s, has died, the Archdiocese of Chicago reported Friday. He died Oct. 10 at his residence on the grounds of St. Celestine Parish in Elmwood Park. Fr. White came to Queen of the Rosary in 1981 and left in 1984 to go to St. Joan of Arc in Evanston. He retired in 1996 after 61 years in the priesthood. He was pastor emeritus of St. Henry Parish in Chicago and also worked at St. Celestine, St. Thomas the Apostle Parish on Chicago’s south side, Ascension Parish in Oak Park, and St. Gertrude in Franklin Park. Visitation for Fr. White will be held 2-9 p.m. Oct. 14 and 9-10 a.m. on Oct. 15, at St. Celestine, 3020 N. 76th Court in Elmwood Park. A funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15 at St. Celestine.
