Judson University offers two new graduate programs

Judson University will be offering two new graduate-level programs — a master of leadership in ministry and amaster of business administration — starting next spring.

The Higher Learning Commission approved the new degree programs Sept. 24.

The master of leadership in ministry program is an accelerated, cohort-based course designed for students interested in vocational ministry in churches and other ministry organizations.

“Our MLM is entirely unique from what other institutions are offering in the traditional masters of divinity programs,” Provost Will Friesen said in a news release. “It not only offers the biblical and theological foundations to make graduates into strong scholars, it also provides in-depth practical experience and methodology to make them influential leaders.”

The 16-month program combines online learning and face-to-face sessions, including two courses taught in Israel. It also provides intensive field experience by requiring students to work at least part-time in ministry leadership throughout the program, officials said.

Students will have opportunities to travel to Israel, connect with Chicago area ministry leaders, and attend the Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit. The tuition is structured to be all-inclusive, covering travel costs, books, housing and food for on-site courses, software, an iPad Mini, and other program expenses.

Judson, founded in 1913 as part of Northern Theological Seminary, marks 50 years this year since the college’s relocation to Elgin in 1963.

The MBA program is designed for working adults. Courses integrate quantitative and qualitative concepts from various disciplines, including accounting, economics, finance, marketing, operations, leadership, and strategic management. The 39 credit-hour program is accelerated and cohort based. Students can choose to take classes in person at Judson’s Elgin or Rockford locations, or take the course online.

University officials said students in the program come from a variety of organizations including business, not-for-profit, and government backgrounds.

Students interested in either program can attend an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Nov. 12 in the Lindner Tower Eagle Lounge on Judson’s Elgin campus, 1151 N. State St. To register for the session, visit judsonu.edu or call (847) 628-1500.
