Wake Up! Wake Up! Grab your running shoes, the world didn't end, the ghouls are loose! It's the annual Boy Scouts of America Northwest Suburban Council Haunted Hike. Order of the Arrow Lodge 175, the service society of Scouting, is ready to raise your blood pressure. Friday October 25th from 7 P.M. till 10:30 P.M. and Saturday October 26th from 6 PM till 10:30 PM. Also on Saturday is the Flashlight Hike from 4 PM till 6 PM for the younger kids, a fright free zone. This special event will be held at the Des Plaines Methodist Campground, 1900 East Algonquin Road, east of River Road in Des Plaines. This fund raiser is sure to raise the hair on the back of your neck. So come and enjoy concessions, a live band both nights, free games, a campfire, bring your own fixings and have fun with the creatures of the night.

The ancient Mayans were wrong! Like the Phoenix the boys are back, they rose from the ashes just in time to scare you and your friends, to have fun with your fears and make you scream loudly. A special extra scary High School Hike starts at 9:30 PM both nights, don't be late! Don't come alone.

Scouts in uniform are $5.00, children 5 years to12 years $6.00, adults and children 13 years and older $7.00, online orders are $6.00. E-mail address is http://tinyurl.com/hike2013. A limited edition “Fast Patch” is $25.00. With this, you move to the front of the line, get a limited metallic edition patch, a bag of popcorn, a glow necklace, a cup of hot cocoa, admission and a hearty handshake-what a deal!

So come for the fun, the scares or just hang out in the circus tent listening to the music or waiting to see what monsters show up. It's the event to die for. This year's chairman is Joey Peck aided by Haunted Hike advisor Jay R Haack and hundreds of other scout and non-scout volunteers. About a thousand hours of work go into planning, setting up and taking down the hike. Pass it on! Bring a group or a few friends. BUT do not come alone! You have been warned!
