Warren Township High School officials had reason to celebrate Tuesday when board members and others gathered to dedicate the O'Plaine Road campus expansion in Gurnee.
Work at the freshmen-sophomore campus included 10 science classrooms, a digital laboratory classroom, special education offices, meeting rooms and teacher offices.
In addition, the campus' southwest courtyard was renovated to accommodate a new weight room, locker room and bathrooms. A viewing area for the swimming pool also was added.
School board President John Anderson is among the officials proud of the work that was done at the O'Plaine building.
"All of us at Warren Township High School District 121 are very thankful for the support our community has shown over the years in making sure we have first-class facilities for our students," Anderson said. "The community support of our two previous additions made this addition possible by helping us qualify for matching state funds."
Anderson added that Phil Sobocinski, who retired as superintendent after the 2011-12 academic year, deserves thanks for his years of leadership and guidance that have been instrumental in improving Warren's facilities and student education.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc.
