Trail of pills leads to pharmacy burglary suspects

DECATUR — A detective investigating a pair of break-ins at a Decatur pharmacy didn't have to look far to find suspects: He just followed the trail of medicine.

Jeremy Appenzeller says one of the suspects in Friday's burglary ran from the Victory Health Mart to a small house across the street, dropping numerous loose prescription pills along the way.

Police say the woman returned to the pharmacy a day later with another suspect and carted off a large safe.

The (Decatur) Herald & Review reports that police searching the woman's home found prescription labels in a trash can.

Officers arrested the pair as well as a third person living at the home. They were being held on preliminary charges of burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
