Benedictine’s Reyes wins award

For the second consecutive week a member of the Benedictine men’s soccer team has been recognized as the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete of the Week.

Midfielder Edgar Reyes won the award this week after helping the Eagles to a pair of wins while scoring 3 goals and adding 2 more assists. The junior scored both the tying and game-winning goal on Saturday against Concordia.

The announcement came on the heels of Ante Markotic gaining the same accomplishment the week before. Markotic and Reyes have been key figures in Benedictine’s four-game win streak and five-game unbeaten streak. With Saturday’s win the Eagles moved over the .500 mark on the season at 5-4-1 and remained undefeated in conference.

The two juniors will need to stay on top of their game if they wish to continue the streak. Wednesday the Eagles welcome North Park University, ranked No. 19 in the country.
