Historic cemetery walk:

Learn about Round Lake-area history while meeting “characters” who settled the area during the early 1800s to 1900s at the Round Lake Civic Center Foundation’s annual cemetery walk at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. Members of the foundation and the newly formed Round Lake Area Historic Committee will take a historic journey through time. The tour begins at the Village of Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center, off Hook Drive west of Route 83, to the East Fox Lake Cemetery where many of the area settlers are buried. Visitors will be greeted by costumed characters standing by their gravestone to talk about themselves, life in this area during their times and about the cemetery. Guests will each be able to do a gravestone rubbing and wander the old cemetery on Old Monaville Road between Monaville and Fairfield roads. The tour returns to the Civic Center for fall treats and to view historic items. An RSVP is requested with last name, number attending and email address at rlbeachcenter@rlbeach.org or by calling (847) 201-9032.
