Outreach on health care law planned at Chicago ‘Care Fair’

A free community event to inform people about the national health care law will be held Sunday on Chicago’s southwest side.

The Be Covered Illinois Care Fair will begin at 11 a.m. and run through 5 p.m. at Chicago Indoor Sports on Ashland Avenue just south of Pershing Road.

Bilingual experts and certified enrollment counselors will be available for Spanish-speaking people who attend the Care Fair. Information will be available on the Affordable Care Act and how consumers can sign up for the insurance coverage the law requires of most Americans.

Also planned are free health screenings and vaccinations. Community organizations will provide information on their services.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is sponsoring the Be Covered Illinois campaign along with several partners.
