Prison for St. Charles man who stalked dancer

A St. Charles man who harassed a dancer he met at an Elk Grove Village nightclub pleaded guilty to stalking this week in a Rolling Meadows courtroom, court records show.

Robert Klopp, 39, of the 100 block of Walnut Drive, was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $639 in fines in exchange for his guilty plea to the class 3 felony. Court records show he received credit for 370 days in custody.

When Klopp was arrested on the stalking charge in September 2012, he was already serving two years of conditional discharge for misdemeanor disorderly conduct involving the same victim. Prosecutors said Klopp had taken photos of the man’s house and looked into his windows.

Police arrested Klopp on new charges in September 2012, claiming that Klopp again harassed the victim by phone and through surveillance of his home.

Prosecutors said during Klopp’s bond hearing that the victim had filed a total of 17 police reports against Klopp over the previous 12 to 18 months.
