St. Simon’s in Arlington Hts. gets new rector

St. Simon’s Episcopal Church in Arlington Heights will celebrate the installation of its newest rector with a Renewal of Ministry service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 717 W. Kirchoff Road.

Led by the Rev. Jeffrey Lee, diocesan bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, the service will reaffirm the congregation’s commitment to share in God’s mission in the world, as well as welcoming new rector the Rev. Elizabeth Jameson.

“To paraphrase the Blues Brothers, we’re on a mission, a mission from God,” said Jameson. “Our church teaches that we are all ministers and that the work of the church is in the world.”

Jameson was selected after a search of more than 18 month.

“It’s only right to celebrate the outcome of our deliberate, thoughtful process in selecting a new rector,” said Ken Stiff, senior warden for the parish. “As we celebrate our new journey together, we open ourselves to creative new ways of embodying God’s love in our community.”
