MCC fair centers on transfer opportunities for students

Submitted by McHenry County College

Current and prospective McHenry County College students are invited to attend two upcoming events to find out more about transfer opportunities. The events include a Private Illinois Colleges and Universities Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, and State University Transfer Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

The PICU Fair will feature more than 25 private colleges in Illinois and the State University Transfer Day Fair will include Illinois public universities.

These events provide the opportunity for students who are preparing to transfer to a four-year college or university to meet with representatives in one convenient location. College representatives will be available to answer questions on degree programs, admission criteria, the application process, and financial aid. Students may bring a copy of their college transcript for review. Many of the colleges participating have transfer agreements in place with MCC.

A special financial aid presentation this year is “Looking ahead: Plan for your financial aid and improve your financial aid literacy.”

College Fair 2013 is a cooperative program sponsored by McHenry County College and 15 area high schools. Students can receive the information they need to make informed choices about the future of their education.

Current MCC students who are interested in transfer opportunities may also attend the PIUC Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 30 and a State University Transfer Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the Commons area in Building B.

The annual MCC College Fair for high school students and their parents as well as current college students, will be held at MCC from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 with representatives from more than 140 colleges and universities.
