Wauconda wins three-set thriller

Wauconda d. Grant: Sara Sexton slammed 14 kills, and LeAnne Sakowicz and Susan Karhoff added 9 apiece, as visiting Wauconda prevailed 25-17, 21-25, 25-23 in a North Suburban Prairie thriller.

Sakowicz also had 18 assists and 12 digs, while Lauren Nee posted 12 digs as well for Wauconda (13-5, 2-1). Karhoff dished out 14 assists and chipped in 9 digs, as well.

Grant got 9 kills from Beka Couch. Kylie Mueller and Tori Gallichio each served 2 aces, and Nicole Buckley pounded 3 kills. Mueller also had 3 blocks.

Warren d. Lake Forest: Jenna Walczak's 7 kills and Allyson Mitchell's 4 kills helped the Blue Devils capture a 25-18, 26-24 win in North Suburban Lake action.

Warren (7-7, 3-1) also received 3 blocks, 9 digs and 2 aces from Lindsey Biedron. Kim Hengesh came up with 4 blocks for the Blue Devils. Rachel Ziegler contributed 9 assists and 2 blocks.

Mundelein d. Zion-Benton: Sarah Bregenzer, Emily Dunkin and Yasmeen Johnson each had 5 kills to lead the Mustangs to a 25-20, 25-22 win in North Suburban Lake play.

Dunkin and Johnson also served 1 aces apiece, and Madi Wilcox had 15 assists on 53-of-54 setting for Mundelein (8-10, 1-1).
