27-year-old charged in Pontiac motel deaths

PONTIAC — A 27-year-old central Illinois man is charged with the shooting deaths of his mother and brother at a Pontiac motel.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports Cody Hetherington is charged with four counts of first-degree murder for the August deaths of 57-year-old Jean Ann Corrice and 23-year-old Tyler R. Friant.

Hetherington was arrested Tuesday, the same day he was released from a Springfield hospital. He’d been a patient there since the Aug. 20 shooting.

He’s being held on $300,000 bond in the Livingston County jail. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.

Police say Corrice was living at the Palamar Motel. Her body was discovered after officers went to the motel for a well-being check when she didn’t show up at work.

Pontiac is about 40 miles northeast of Bloomington.
