Notre Dame installs large telescope on campus

SOUTH BEND — The University of Notre Dame has completed installation of a telescope that is one of the largest telescopes in Indiana.

Astrophysics professor Peter Garnovich says the new telescope on the roof of the Jordan Hall of Science will allow undergraduate and graduate students to do top-notch research while staying on campus. The telescope features a 32-inch diameter mirror.

Notre Dame also is a partner in the Large Binocular Telescope project on Mount Graham northeast of Tucson, Ariz., the largest telescope in the world on a single mount.
