Maine Township woman gets supervision for battery, trespass

A 21-year-old Maine Township woman who fought police after they tried to escort her from a stranger’s house pleaded guilty to battery and criminal trespass Monday in a Skokie courtroom, court records show.

Jenelle Barton, of the 8900 block of Robin Drive, near Des Plaines, pleaded guilty to the reduced charges.

She was intoxicated when she entered a stranger’s home in the 8800 block of Robin Drive near Des Plaines at about 5:45 a.m. April 28, a Cook County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said at the time of Barton’s arrest.

When sheriff’s deputies attempted to escort Barton from the home, she reportedly kicked at the officers and bit them, authorities said.

In exchange for Barton’s guilty plea to the misdemeanors, Cook County Judge Garritt E. Howard sentenced her to two years supervision and 40 hours of community service, court records show. Howard also ordered her to submit to drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, if necessary, and to participate in anger management classes, court records show. Garritt also ordered Barton to pay $569 in fines, records show.
