Hike to remember loved ones

Hike for Hospice, a 5K walk along the Fox River to benefit Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, starting at 10 a.m. at the Peg Bond Center, 151 Island Ave., Batavia.

This event is a way for family and friends to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one who has died, while at the same time supporting the programs of Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice.

Walkers will get an event T-shirt and a badge that honors their loved one. There will be a Memory Board for posting photos of loved ones. Following the walk, there’ll be massages, lunch from Gracious Hall, and many great giveaways. Prizes for the top pledge-raisers will be given.

Proceeds from Hike for Hospice enable Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice to continue to provide hospice and bereavement care to the community free. Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice is a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those with life-threatening illnesses and those who have lost loved ones. The agency serves Batavia, Geneva, and all of Kane and Kendall counties; plus parts of DuPage, Cook and McHenry counties.
