SIU beats rival SE Missouri 36-19

ST. LOUIS — Malcolm Agnew ran for 127 yards and a touchdown to lead Southern Illinois past rival Southeast Missouri 36-19 on Saturday, in the first football game at the new Busch Stadium.

Southern Illinois (2-2) scored the final 17 points, including an 18-yard pass from Kory Faulkner to MyCole Pruitt and a 9-yard Agnew rush.

SE Missouri (0-3) tied the game at 19 on a 75-yard touchdown from Kyle Snyder to Paul McRoberts with 7:34 left in the third quarter. McRoberts finished with five catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

Southern Illinois had the ball for over 36 minutes and gained 209 yards on the ground, compared to 53 for SE Missouri.

Saturday marked the 81st meeting between the two schools that are located 46 miles apart. SIU has won four of the last five games since the series renewed in 2009. SE Missouri holds the all-time series lead at 39-34-8.
