Supervision, community sentence part of Seyller sentence
East Dundee Police Sgt. Michael Seyller, who has been stripped of his authority for almost a year and is a defendant in several cases, last month was found guilty of violating an order of protection in Arlington Heights.
A Cook County judge sentenced him to a year of court supervision, ordered him to pay $809 in fines and to perform 80 hours of community service, according to court records.
Seyller could not be reached for comment Friday.
The arrest in June came as a result of “an illegal third-party communication involving juveniles,” according to police, who declined to elaborate.
The order of protection violation came two months after Seyller was arrested after police said he brandished a shotgun while intoxicated on a Carpentersville street near his home. He was later charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, but that charge was dropped earlier this month.
Seyller was charged with domestic battery in April in Carpentersville. He has a criminal case pending in Adams County, Wis., where he was charged with felony substantial battery after police said he broke a man’s nose and knocked out two teeth in a March bar fight.
Seyller has agreed to retire from the police department after the pension board votes on his application for a medical disability pension. That vote is expected within next two months, East Dundee Police Chief Terry Mee said.
