Ÿ Michael A. Griffin, 33, of the 300 block of Mill Street in South Elgin, was arrested Wednesday and charged with of manufacture/delivery of between 10 and 30 grams of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery of between 10 and 30 grams cannabis, possession of between 10 and 30 grams cannabis, and resisting or obstructing a police officer, court records show. Griffin was on parole, and threw bags containing the drugs in a dumpster when police approached him at about 8:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of Mark Avenue, a police report said. Griffin’s bail was set at $1,000,000 in Kane County bond court; he is next due in court Oct. 4.

Ÿ Jannet Alvarado, 18, of the 300 block of Mountain Street in Elgin, was arrested Wednesday and charged with retail theft after she took more than $300 worth of merchandise from a big box store in the 1100 block of South Randall Road, court records show. Alvarado’s bail was set at $1,500 in Kane County bond court; she is next due in court Oct. 2.
