Does your family room need an update?

Ah, the family room. You might be sitting there right now, enjoying your Daily Herald.

It’s the place you go to read, spend time with your children, snuggle with your spouse, watch television, play video games and, of course, snack.

Of course, that means it’s the room with the coffee stains on the couch, the scuff marks on the coffee table, the worn spot on the carpeting and the ding in the entertainment center.

When you gather children, friends of said children, pets and other assorted family members routinely in one room, mix in an occasional meal and a beverage or two, there’s going to be a little damage.

For most of us, the family room is probably the room we spend the most time in … and the least time on. We want to help you change that.

We want to help you create the family room your family deserves.

With the able assistance of our sponsors, we are going to give away two designer makeover packages valued at $10,000 to the lucky winner of our “Room for Living” contest.

All you have to do is tell us why you deserve to win and send a photo of your current room to dailyherald.com/contest/roomforliving.

Yes, it requires getting up off the couch.

And, yes, it requires that others see the state of your family room, but that’s a small price to pay for the possibility of having the family room to end all family rooms.

The deadline for entries is Sept. 27.
