CLC’s literary magazine holds reading

The College of Lake County’s Willow Review literary magazine will hold a reading and reception at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, in Room C003, on the Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St. Contributors to the award-winning publication will read from their original poetry and prose. Copies of the 40th anniversary issue will be available at the reading.

The 2013 Illinois featured author is Margaret Dubay Mikus, Ph.D. She was a research scientist/teacher, who has lived with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer. Now a poet and photographer, she is the author of two award-winning books, “As Easy as Breathing: Reclaiming Power for Healing and Transformation—Poems, Letters and Inner Listening” and “Letting Go and New Beginnings: A Mother’s Poetic Journey.”

She has published poems and essays in literary journals, newsletters, magazines and anthologies, online and in print. Selected poems are on her CD, “Full Blooming: Selections from a Poetic Journal.”

Reviewer D.E. Steward of “Literary Magazine Review” gave high praise to the CLC publication: “Willow Review is altogether a singular magazine, unlike any literary magazine in the reviewer’s experience.” It is partially funded by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Its editor is Michael Latza, CLC English professor.

For information, contact Latza at com426@clcillinois.edu or (847) 543-2956.

This event was originally scheduled for April 18, but was cancelled due to flooding conditions.
