Streamwood 2, WW South 0: The Sabres got an own goal and then Nestor Ascencio fed Brian Benitiz for an insurance tally in the first round of the Pepsi Showdown. Niki Mihalopolous scored Huntley’s first goal unassisted in the 29th minute. Tommy Helm made 4 saves in goal for the Red Raiders (8-0-1), who play Lake Zurich in the second round Tuesday at a place and time to be determined.

Harvest Christian 3, Paw Paw 1: Sergio Velazquez, Raphael DeSouza and Aaron Park scored goals for the Lions (3-0) in their nonconference win. Noah Fox made 3 saves in goal.

Rolling Meadows 3, CL South 0: Gus Alvarez had 7 saves in the net but the Gators (3-4-2) couldn’t find the back on the other end in this nonconference setback.

Round Lake 6, Elgin 3: Eduardo Zavala scored a hat trick and Flavio Jaimes made 17 saves for the Maroons in this nonconference loss.

Newark 5, Elgin Academy 2: Alex Garcia and Jumel Julien scored goals for the Hilltoppers (1-3) in this nonconference loss. Jonathan Shen made 3 saves in goal for EA.
