2 teens linked to Elgin burglary

An Elgin teenager faces one count of residential burglary and a younger boy has been charged with a probation violation, Elgin police said Saturday.

Police said they apprehended 17-year-old Cristian A. Valdivia, of the 700 block of Cedar Avenue, and a juvenile shortly after 10 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of Waverly Drive after a resident reported two suspicious subjects.

Officers spotted Valdivia and the younger teen wearing backpacks and leaving a house through an open back door, police said.

Called to the house, the homeowner reported missing items that police say were found in the teens’ backpacks. The juvenile was taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center for violation of his probation, police said.
