United Airlines will start a non- stop, seasonal service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Edinburgh on May 22, the airline said today.

The route will coincide with the Commonwealth Games, to be held in Glasgow next year, as well as the Ryder Cup at the Gleaneagles resort in Scotland.

The flights will operate five times a week from May 22 to June 11, daily between June 12 and Sept. 1 and four times a week between Sept. 2 and Oct. 5, 2014, United Airlines said on its website. The flights will operate using Boeing 757-200 aircraft with a total of 169 seats.

United currently operates a non-stop service from Newark Liberty International Airport to both Edinburgh and Glasgow throughout the year.
