Hoffman Estates police, firefighters to play ball for new K-9 unit
Members of the Hoffman Estates Police Department will face members of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department in a “Shootz & Ladders” softball fundraiser from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at High Point Park, 1198 Hermitage Lane in Hoffman Estates.
All proceeds will go toward a new K9 for the Hoffman Estates Police Department. The department’s only K9, a 9-year-old German Shepherd named Bundo, had to retire in April due to health issues.
The rain date is at the same time on Saturday, Sept. 28. Members of the public are welcome to attend and cheer on the teams. There will be raffle prizes, food and kids games during the event. Parking is available at the park and MacArthur School. Attendees can also pay to throw out a pitch before each inning and there are commemorative T-shirts for sale.
