W. Chicago Police warn of sewer grate thefts

West Chicago police are asking residents to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity near sewer grates in the village.

In the past few months, there’s been several storm sewer grates stolen, police said.

A black Ford F150 pick up truck has been seen in the area around the time of the thefts, police said. The truck is believed to be a late 1990s or early 2000s model with an extended cab and a distinctive 12 to 18-inch blue stripe along the lower trim.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call West Chicago police at (630) 293-2222.

Police ask anyone who witnesses suspicious activity or notices any sewer grates missing to call 911.

Additionally, the DuPage County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and charges filed against the offenders responsible for the thefts. To report a tip, call (800) 222-8477 or text a tip with the keyword DuPage to CRIMES (274637) or submit a web tip at dupagecrimestoppers.com.
