Lincoln College museum closed until next year

LINCOLN, Ill. — The Lincoln Heritage Museum at Lincoln College in central Illinois will be closed until next year.

The museum is moving its collection to a new space on the campus in Lincoln. It will be closed until April 2014 except for a Sept. 28, during a college fundraiser.

Director Ron Keller tells The Pantagraph in Bloomington that the museum is making progress. He says he hopes the new space will attract new visitors. A Rantoul firm is designing the new facility.

The collection contains the Lincoln and Logan County history documents from 1887 Lincoln University graduate Judge Lawrence Stringer. It also contains donations from others, including Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith, the last direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln.
