Gibby’s Wine Den gives back with Think Pink bags tourney

Gibby’s Wine Den along Randall Road in Geneva is helping to host a breast cancer fundraiser this month.

Gibby’s, along with Batavia Enterprises and the American Cancer Society, is helping to put on a Think Pink Bags Tourney Saturday, Sept. 28.

The bags tourney will offer food and wine for sale, with 10 percent of all bar proceeds going back to support the American Cancer Society and 100 percent of all other proceeds going back to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

The tournament runs from 4 to 8 p.m. at 122 W. Wilson St., Batavia.

You can enter the bags tournament as part of the fundraiser, or you can just show up to eat, drink, cheer on the teams and help raise funds for the cause. There will be live music, a 50/50 raffle, raffle baskets, a silent auction, and the food and drink.

For information, call Gibby’s at (630) 208-6424, or email or call organizer Katie Speranske at Katie@bataviaenterprises.com or (630) 879-3680.

Following the fundraiser, Gibby’s has many more community events happening in the next month or two.

The business hosts a wine tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

For those of you looking to learn a little more about the wine you are tasting, the business also is hosting a food and wine pairing class next month.

On Oct. 20 at Gibby’s, 1772 S. Randall, they’ll teach you how to use your senses to match the food you love with wine. You’ll learn how the different taste of sweet, sour, salty and bitter go with different types of wine.

Register for this class through Waubonsee Community College, www.waubonsee.edu/communityed, or call (630) 466-7900.

I Heart Shopping: If you love shopping, Geneva Commons along the Randall Road corridor has an upcoming event targeted for you.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, the outdoor mall is hosting I Heart Shopping.

You can start out your night at the mall by stopping by the I Heart Shopping event table located near the bell tower.

There, the first 200 attendees will receive a goody bag and register for a prize drawing for free merchandise and gift cards.

There also will be one-night only store offers and sales.

Best face forward: Maybe you’ve bought the Bare Minerals makeup materials and have them still sitting unopened in your bathroom.

To teach people how to use the popular beauty product, the Ulta store in Algonquin Commons is hosting a special event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. Experts will be there to teach you how to use the multi-step product.

To reserve your spot, call (847) 458-0749.
