Hanover Twp. provides free snacks to neighborhood kids

Hanover Township has partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide healthy snacks to neighborhood children. The program begins Monday, Sept. 9, and runs through Friday, May 23. Children can receive a free snack from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. weekdays at the Astor Avenue Community Center in Hanover Park. Township officials said research shows nutritional well-being affects a child’s ability to concentrate and adds to overall energy levels. Staff and volunteers also will be available during the snack program to assist youth with homework help. For more information, call the center at (630) 540-9085.
