Elgin 3, Nazareth 2: Tournament MVP Edgar Zavala had the game-winning goal as Elgin won the championship of the LaSallian Cup tournament at St. Patrick. Zavala also assisted on the Maroons’ two first-half goals, which were scored by Daniel Geary and Tirso Reynoso. Flavia Jaimes had 9 saves in goal for Elgin (3-0-2).

“Zavala is the type of player that makes everyone around him better,” said Elgin coach Dave Borg. “Nothing around him rattles him.”

Huntley 4, Buffalo Grove 0: Christian Ramos, Scott Dorviller, Niko Mihalopolous and Jack Bessey scored goals and Austen Emery had 11 saves in goal as Huntley (5-0-1) captured the championship of the 22nd annual Hillner Classic at Lake Park.

Westminster Christian 8, Kirkland Hiawatha 1: Ian Merlak, Robert Kleczynski and Noah Gannon each had 2 goals, with Chad Thomason and Chase Woods adding single scores to lead Westminster Christian in the Northeast Athletic Conference. Alex Wocjic made 2 saves in the net for the Warriors (3-2).

South Elgin 3, Glenbard East 0: J.L. Lujan, Issac Perez and Nate Fisher scored goals as the Storm (1-2) won in nonconference action. Richard Groenewegen (2 saves) and Michael Cortez (1 save) combined in goal for the shutout.

St. Edward 2, Rockford East 2: Joe Martell’s goal with 46.7 seconds to play lifted the Green Wave to a nonconference tie. Kevin Bardan and Austin Pfeiffer assisted on the goal. Alex Semler scored the first goal for St. Edward (4-0-1) and John Gotheredge had 9 saves in goal.

Neuqua Valley 1, Bartlett 0: Justin Busch had 7 saves in goal for Bartlett in the Best of the Midwest Tournament.

Batavia 1, Streamwood 0: Phil Lewy (3 saves) and Sergio Blanco (4 saves) shared the net for the Sabres (3-1, 1-1) in this Upstate Eight River loss.

Dundee-Crown 1, Hoffman Estates 0: Ben Stone’s first-half goal off an assist from William Campos, and 6 saves by Jose Gonzalez in the net lifted the Chargers (5-0) to the nonconference win.

Crystal Lake South 0, Wheaton Warrenville South 0: Gus Alvarez made 6 saves for the Gators at the Barrington Classic. Alvarez was named to the all-tournament team.
