Wisconsin guard members search for baby’s body

RACINE, Wis. — A group of Wisconsin National Guard members are helping search a northern Illinois landfill for the body of a 5-month-old baby.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers and volunteers have looked for the boy since he went missing two weeks ago. Authorities narrowed their search to a landfill in Zion. The boyfriend of the baby’s mother is charged with killing the child, Joshua Summeries.

National Guardsman Jamie Stroh, of Racine, summoned his colleagues to help in the search. He says the stench of the landfill is what hits you first, then thoughts turn to the possibility that a child is buried in the garbage. Stroh tells WTMJ-TV they will continue to help in the search in order to give the baby a “better resting place.”
