Willowbrook-area man gets jail, probation for having child porn

A DuPage County man has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and four years of probation for aggravated child pornography possession, authorities said Wednesday.

Andrew Quinn, 34, of the 17W300 block of Birnam Trail near Willowbrook, also must register as a sex offender, according to court records.

Quinn was charged last year after an online undercover investigation by Carol Stream police and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Authorities said he possessed pornographic images of children as young as 3 and made them available for download through online file-sharing software.

Quinn pleaded guilty and was sentenced Tuesday by DuPage Judge Kathryn Creswell. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed six additional child pornography counts, court records show.

Had he been convicted at trial, Quinn could have faced up to seven years in prison. He received credit toward his jail term for one day served in the county lockup before he was released last year on a $20,000 cash bond, records show.
