Daily Herald report

A two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 294 near Elmhurst just after midnight Monday sent six people to area hospitals, according to Illinois State Police.

Police and paramedics received the call to milepost 33 at 12:05 a.m., officials said.

The collision remained under investigation throughout the day Monday, but Illinois State Police were unable to release many details other than that both vehicles were traveling in the southbound lanes.

The six injured occupants of the vehicles were taken to hospitals by paramedics from the Berkeley Fire Department, Hillside Fire Department and Northlake Fire Protection District, according to police.

Berkeley paramedics had primary jurisdiction over the scene but also had no information Monday afternoon on the ages or conditions of the injured.
